A Gentle Reminder to Begin Again
April has a softness to it. The air shifts, the flowers push through the soil, and the world seems to breathe again after winter’s long hold. And here in the southwest, the tiny leaves of the Mesquite trees start to emerge from their winter hiding places. Everything feels possible in April.
It’s a month that reminds me to start again—even if I’ve been discouraged, even if plans haven’t gone the way I’d hoped. Whether it’s in writing, relationships, or just showing up for another day, April whispers, “Try again.”
The birds outside my window are actively engaged, building nests, laying eggs, singing, and flitting from branch to branch, prompting me to refill their feeders and baths. This serves as a reminder that we're all simply doing our best—seeking a bit of comfort, a touch of beauty, and perhaps hoping to leave something meaningful behind.
This month, I’m focusing on small steps. I’ve got stories to write, gardens to tend, and people I love to pray for, even if I can’t always reach them and rarely get to see them. April is not about perfection—it’s about possibility.
Let’s lean into that.

I love this! I feel this so much too, like it's time to breath fresh again, soak in the Son and and sunshine. New hope....
